Why we Worship

PSALM 47

Clap your hands, all peoples!
  Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared,
  a great king over all the earth.
He subdued peoples under us,
  and nations under our feet.
He chose our heritage for us,
  the pride of Jacob whom he loves.

God has gone up with a shout,
  the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
  Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
  sing praises with a psalm!

Why Sing?

God reigns over the nations;
  God sits on his holy throne.
The princes of the peoples gather
  as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
  he is highly exalted!

THEME: God is holy. His perfect justice demands that he punish all disobedience, all rebellion. But on the cross, Jesus took the blows meant for us, and those who trust in Christ escape the punishment that we deserve. Hallelujah!

Lyrics | Description

Father you have called us to the straight and narrow path
By your grace we stand forgiven, sheltered from your wrath
We don't have to fear the judgment of that awful day
Jesus' blood has washed our sins away

We can't believe the sacrifice that you agreed to pay
To overturn the Fall and make a New and Living Way
We've escaped the terror of your righteous rod
How kind of you, Most Holy Gracious God

We've been called to righteousness, to lives of purity
Peace and joy and holiness will be the fruit we see
Quietness and confidence are promised in God's word
Through His death our life has been procured
