Commentary: | Call on me in the day of trouble,
and I will answer you,
and you will honor me.
Psalm 50:15
Jesus said that in this world we would have trouble. (John 16:33) But our God is a refuge, a hiding place, a source of comfort, a rock. We can take comfort knowing that Jesus lived here before us, facing the same trials and temptions that we face. And he persevered, triumphing even over death. For the Christian, trials are inevitable, because through them our faith, which is of greater worth than gold, may prove genuine, resulting ultimately in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. (1 Peter 1:6) The confidence we have is that all things work out for the good of those who love God and follow his ways. There is simply no trouble bad enough to separate us from the love of God that is found in Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 8)
