Commentary: | There they were, with the impassible Red Sea block their advance, and a fast approaching and furious Egyptian army blocking their retreat.
God showed up, bigtime. The pillar of cloud protected them from the Egyptians, while a strong east wind drove the sea back and turned it into dry land.
That's nice, you say. What's for dinner?
Because God is eternal, everything he has done in the past is in our bank of faith. It has a direct bearing on what we might expect our God to do, and the power we know him to have.
When we diminish God's miracles, we diminish our faith in the process. God is eternally powerful. God eternally acts on behalf of his people. And this will always be true. He is not wearing out, getting old, or disinterested. God hasn't "moved on."
Why do you say and complain, "My way is hidden from the Lord, my cause is disregarded by my God?" Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary....Isaiah 40:27-28
No, in fact this eternal God doles out strength to the weary. He increases he power of the weak.
Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
