Why we Worship

PSALM 47

Clap your hands, all peoples!
  Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared,
  a great king over all the earth.
He subdued peoples under us,
  and nations under our feet.
He chose our heritage for us,
  the pride of Jacob whom he loves.

God has gone up with a shout,
  the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
  Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
  sing praises with a psalm!

Why Sing?

God reigns over the nations;
  God sits on his holy throne.
The princes of the peoples gather
  as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
  he is highly exalted!

Purpose: | Paul did not hesitate to commend those who ministered alongside him. There needs to be a place and a time when we do this for each other in the Body of Christ. God will get the glory as we highlight the love of Jesus displayed in each other.

Commentary: | I commend to your our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church...I ask you to receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints...Romans 16:1

Often, love is shown in the Body of Christ and goes unnoticed, and that's fine most of the time. But occasionally, we need to commend each other for being faithful, for God is at work in and through us as we serve each other. This service is designed to facilitate recognition while at the same time making sure that God is receiving all the glory.
