Why we Worship

PSALM 47

Clap your hands, all peoples!
  Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared,
  a great king over all the earth.
He subdued peoples under us,
  and nations under our feet.
He chose our heritage for us,
  the pride of Jacob whom he loves.

God has gone up with a shout,
  the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
  Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
  sing praises with a psalm!

Why Sing?

God reigns over the nations;
  God sits on his holy throne.
The princes of the peoples gather
  as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
  he is highly exalted!

Purpose: | Jesus is Lord? The world allows him a place at the table of religion, but that is all. Someday, however, he will be the honored guest, when every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Philippians 2:11

Commentary: | The concept that one must go through Jesus to get right with God (or that we even have anything to get right with God about!!) is going the way of milk bottles, typewriters, Thomas Brothers maps and $3 a gallon gasoline.

Suddenly, to say that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life is considered at best insensitive, quaint and outdated, and at worst it is perceived as hate speech.

But to lump the One by whom all things were created, the One who is before all things, and by whom all things hold together – to make Him stand in a lineup with mere mortals – that is to do the King of kings and Lord of lords a great disservice.  He who is not with me is against me. Luke 11:23

There is no neutral ground.  We must declare our allegiance one way or the other.  Unashamedly and unapologetically, let’s lift up our Lord Jesus for who he is - the Alpha and the Omega....who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”  Revelation 1:8
