Why we Worship

PSALM 47

Clap your hands, all peoples!
  Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared,
  a great king over all the earth.
He subdued peoples under us,
  and nations under our feet.
He chose our heritage for us,
  the pride of Jacob whom he loves.

God has gone up with a shout,
  the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
  Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
  sing praises with a psalm!

Why Sing?

God reigns over the nations;
  God sits on his holy throne.
The princes of the peoples gather
  as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
  he is highly exalted!

Purpose: | God has big plans for planet earth. He is not some local deity, with limited influence. Very soon, all the earth will be filled with the knowledge of God as the waters cover the sea. That's a promise, and God always keeps His word.

Commentary: | In Isaiah 6 he gets caught up in the praise of heaven. The cherubim are announcing that “the whole earth is full of God's glory!" The only problem is, nobody knows it, for the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:4

At the same time we are living in the age when everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:13 A very real battle rages for the hearts and souls of all humankind.

How will God prevail this happen if people remain clueless? How can they call on One who they know nothing about? Just how will the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14 How can they hear without someone preaching to them?

Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" Isaiah responded, "Here am I. Send me!" Isaiah 6:8

The same Spirit of God is asking the same question, “Who will go?” How will you answer?
